Via Salon: The memories of growing up Gen-X
Published 2011-06-20
It's not really the things that we loved; it’s our memories of those things and how they fit into our lives.
Last week, Salon posted a slideshow filled with "The forgotten treasures of Gen-X childhood," based on a excerpt from a book titled, "Whatever Happened to Pudding Pops."
My childhood occupies an in-between area. I'm a bit too young to be full-on Gen-X, but I have to say I can't really relate to the generation that came after. So I'll go with the older kids on this one, especially since I did have "orange-and-red shag carpeting" in my bedroom where I played with Lincoln Logs. I also loved candy cigarettes.
Personal favorites also making the list:
- Choose Your Own Adventure books
- Fisher-Price Little People
- Encyclopedias
